Die Performance ist der zweite Teil der Trilogie “Process_City”. Inspiriert von Franz Kafkas Roman “Der Prozess” und seinen philosophischen und politischen Implikationen, nähern sich die einzelnen Teile der Performance auf ganz unterschiedliche Weise dem Text an. Während der erste Teil der Trilogie, “Vacation from History” als meta(physischer) Kommentar auf Kafkas Arbeiten zum Bewusstsein funktioniert – und sich mit den Verbindungen von Kollektivem und Individuellem auseinandersetzt, wird im dritten Teil der Arbeit “Process_in Progress” der gesamte Roman transformiert zu einer VJ Oper, in der eine Entgegenstellung von Gleichzeitigkeit und Gleichförmigkeit durch Videocollagen und das Spiel der Performer das zentrale Element bildet.

“Ex-position”, der in Chemnitz gezeigte Teil der Performance, greift einen spezifischen Teil von “Der Prozess” heraus: die Parabel der Legende “Vor dem Gesetz”. In Form einer Reise durch immer andere individuelle Erinnerungen und Gefühle stellt sich die Frage nach den Gemeinsamkeiten eines Unterbewusstseins und der Wahrnehmung von Geschichten.

Die Performance geht ca. 5 bis 6 Stunden und jede halbe Stunde werden zwischen 6 und 8 Zuschauer eingelassen. Jedem Zuschauer wird ein Performer zugewiesen, der sich mit ihm auf eine Reise begibt, eine Reise von ca. 20 Minuten durch Geschichten, durch Räume, durch das Bewußtsein, durch die Wahrnehmung. In einem Kontrollraum, in dem die Zuschauer am Ende einer erlebten Geschichte miteinander sprechen, Erfahrungen austauschen oder sich einfach nur ausruhen können, werden sie auf Monitoren das beobachten, was zeitgleich an den anderen Orten geschieht, an die Zuschauer geführt werden und sind frei in der Entscheidung, eine nächste Geschichte erleben zu wollen.

Nach seiner Premiere 2005 auf dem Urban Festival wurde „Ex-position“ auf zahlreichen Festival gezeigt: auf dem Internationalen Eurokaz Festival in Zagreb (2006), auf dem Internationalen Festival BOK in Bjelovar (2007), auf dem Indomitable City Festival in Križevci (2007), auf dem Internationalen Festival FIAT in Montenegro (2007), auf dem Internationalen Theaterfestival in Belgrad (BITEF, 2007), auf dem Internationalen Festival THEALTER in Szeged, Ungarn (2008), auf dem Internationalen Theaterfestival MESS in Sarajevo (2008) und dem Internationalen Theaterfestival PUF in Kroatien (2009).

This performance is the second part in the “Process_City” trilogy. Inspired by the philosophical and political implications of Franz Kafka’s novel “The Trial”, the individual parts of the trilogy approach the text in different ways. The first part, “Vacation from History”, works as a meta(physical) commentary on Kafka’s works on consciousness. It explores the connections between the collective and the individual. The third part, “Process_in Progress”, transforms the entire novel into a VJ opera which focuses on a juxtaposition of simultaneity and similarity through video collages and the performance of the actors.

“Ex-position”, the part of the performance trilogy presented in Chemnitz, looks at one specific aspect of “The Trial”: the parable “Before the Law”. It takes the form of a journey through a variety of individual memories and feelings and explores the question of the shared aspects of the sub-conscious and the perception of stories in general.

The performance lasts between 5 and 6 hours with circa 6 to 8 people being admitted every half-hour. Each member of the audience is assigned to one performer who then takes him or her on a journey of about 20 minutes that passes through stories, spaces, consciousness, and perception. There is a control room where the audience can communicate, share their experiences or just relax after their journey. There are also monitors in the control room that allow them to observe what is happening in the spaces that other people are being lead to. They can decide for t hemselves whether they want to experience another narrative.

After its premiere at the Urban Festival in 2005 “Ex-position“ has appeared at many other festivals: at Eurokaz International Festival in Zagreb (2006), at BOK International Festival in Bjelovar (2007), at Indomitable City Festival in Križevci (2007), at FIAT International Festival in Montenegro (2007), at Belgrade International Theatre Festival (BITEF, 2007), at THEALTER International Festival in Szeged, Hungary (2008), at MESS International Festival in Sarajevo (2008) and at PUF International Theatre Festival in Croatia (2009).
